The Disaster Risk Management Act, 2015 makes provisions for the management and mitigation of disaster, the reduction of risks associated with disaster, and other connected matters.
On March 13, 2020, the Government of Jamaica declared the entire island a disaster area in accordance with S. 26 of the Act in response to the concerns surrounding the growing threat that is the #COVID19 virus.
The Disaster Risk Management (Enforcement Measures) (No.2) Order, an amendment, was proclaimed and gazetted on March 24, 2020.
